October 2007

In This Issue

J.R. Smith is New Publications Editor

A note from Jenny:

I am very pleased to announce to all of you that J.R. Smith has just accepted my offer to join the AGEHR staff as our full-time Publications Editor. In this new position, he will continue his responsibilities as editor of Overtones and will take on additional responsibilities of graphic design and editing assistance for all AGEHR publications, brochures and web-site content.

J.R. has done a wonderful job of making Overtones a valuable resource for our members as well as giving it the look and feel of a top-quality professional journal. I look forward to him bringing this same level of quality and professionalism to all AGEHR publications. Please join me in congratulating and welcoming him to this next challenge in his career.

Overtones Back Issues

Patty Marquart of Orange, California, has generously donated her library of past Overtones from 1970 through 2007. Are you looking for a back issue? Take a look at our online Overtones index for details about past editions. Copies are available for only $5 (including postage) by calling the Guild at 800-878-5459.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

In last month’s edition I placed a request on behalf of First United Methodist Church in Slidell, Louisiana. Our members responded quickly and generously. FUMC received donated bells, tables, stands, music, and publicity. They also received countless donations to help them purchase music and additional equipment as they will sure grow in the future. Our members made a huge impact for one church is starting over from scratch. Thank you for your kindness.

Kudos to the Raleigh Ringers

The Raleigh Ringers has been selected as one of the 2007 recipients of the Raleigh Medal of Arts.  There have only been 120 recipients in the award's 24-year history.

The Medal of Arts is bestowed each year to groups or individuals from Raleigh that have made exemplary contributions to the arts community through performance or in support of the arts. Congratulations!
