Distinctly Bronze Registration is Open and Filling Quickly Registration materials have been available for the past two weeks for Distinctly Bronze, October 2-5, 2008. We are receiving registrations at a record pace and are close to capacity for the event. If you are interested in attending this event and have not already registered, please do so as soon as possible to insure your spot in the 10th Anniversay Celebration of this event. National Exemplary Award Recipient Announced Congratulations to the recipient of the National Exemplary Award for Handbells/Handchimes in Music Education for the school year 2006-2007, Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, Wisconsin. The Handbell Program at Concordia University Wisconsin has existed and been under the direction of Dr. John A. Behnke for 21 years. The program has 26 students in the college undergraduate and graduate program as members of two ensemles: The Alleluia Ringers, drirected by Behnke, and The Chapel Ringers, directed by Mrs. Kimberly Williams. In addition, Concordia sponsors the Milwaukee Handbell Ensemble, a community choir under the direction of John Behnke. For more information about this year's honoree, read the full article here. Applications Now Available for 2007-2008 School Year Application materials are now available for the National Exemplary Award for handbells/Handchimes in Music Education for the 2007-2008 school year. The application deadline is September 1, 2008. Award recipients will be announced in the March/April 2009 issue of Overtones. One representative from each of the honored schools will receive free tuition to the AGEHR National Seminar in Tucson, Arizona, July 15-18, 2009 and will be recognized before the members at the closing banquet. Concordia University in Menquon, Wisconsin, Announces Summer Sessions National Event Scholarship Applications Now Available Some of our Areas also offer scholarships to these events. Please check your Area website or contact your State or Area Chair to find out about opportunities available to you. Booth Space Still Available for HIC Exhibits at National Seminar and International Symposium HIC has extended the deadline to March 28 for accepting registration informationn for booth space in the exhibit area at National Seminar in Orlando, Florida, August 8-11, 2008. In addition, exhibitors have the rare opportunity to reach an international audience at the 13th International Handbell Symposium, at no additional charge to the exhibitor. Exhibits will be open beginning August 7 to give Symposium participants the opportunity to visit our vendors. Over 800 handbell directors and ringers are already registered for the International Symposium and we expect close to 400 to participate in National Seminar.
